Greater Victoria Women's Shelter Society (GVWSS) - Margaret Laurence House

Margaret Laurence House offers supported second stage housing to women and their children who have left abusive relationships. MLH is a safe, supportive place to live while families make plans for their future.

Cridge Transition House (formerly Hill House)

This a safe place for women with or without children who are escaping violent or abusive relationships. Counselling and support are also available to you and your children.

Sandy Merriman House - Emergency Shelter for Women

This women-only shelter provides 25 safe and supportive shelter beds, hygiene services and drop-in facilities for women including counseling and access to health care for those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Student friendly.

Our Place Society (Transitional Housing for Men)

Transitional house is just for men over the age of 19. There are 45 units for single, low income men are available at no fee.

Salvation Army Hostel for Men

There are 56 emergency shelter beds for men in need. The hostel provides those with urgent or emergency need for short term accommodation while setting up a more stable living situation with a place to stay.

Casa Maria Emergency Housing Society

Provides emergency, temporary housing for homeless families and offers support for families in crisis. Provides referrals to community services.

Cridge Centre for Family - Supportive Transitional Housing

A 31-Unit, low rent townhouse complex in a supportive community setting for families moving from a crisis situation to one of self-reliance, personal safety and stability. Focus on families escaping abusive relationships and also new immigrant families.

Emergency Housing for Individuals

University of Victoria - On Campus Housing

If there is availability on-campus, residence can be consulted as a possible housing option in emergency situations. Availability and duration would depend on the circumstances.

Rock Bay Landing

Emergency shelter for adults (male or female) 18 years or older (no children). Night accommodation and 3 meals provided for residents. Residents cannot be visibly under the influence. Provides, beds, meals, referrals, hygiene services, mental health services, housing advocacy, community liaison & crisis lifeskills counselling. Best to come early in the day because beds are assigned starting at 8:30pm. Non-residents can get meals at 3:15pm. Information about other services in town provided. Can stay up to 10 days a month.

Housing for people with low incomes. Contains main housing agencies database and will contact each agency for the individual or family accordingly.

Provide affordable housing for low and middle-income families and those with special needs, i.e. physically disabled.

Society of Saint Vincent de Paul - Housing

Housing for low income urban singles

· PreReq: EITHER

· a stable mental disability; or, past chemical dependency; or, homeless or living in substandard accommodations for at least six months, or, low income urban singles under $20,000 annual income PLUS

· in a cycle of spending more than 40% of gross income on housing, willing to participate in social living skills/community readiness programs, maybe of any gender, 19 - 65 years of age, willing to be assessed by a medical doctor as meeting the selection criteria

· Will work with Coordinated Housing Registry who will then work with Service Landlords in the community charging low rent. Prioritizing is done according to need.
